HOOKAH FAQ
What’s the difference between traditional and modern hookahs?
One difference is the stem of a traditional hookah is one solid piece and modern pipes are designed to be broken down. Typically, traditional pipes are also less expensive, but nowadays there are premium traditional pipes that can cost more than many of the modern hookah alternatives. Traditional hookah pipes also have a tighter draw when inhaling, whereas modern pipes have an open draw. And on a final note, modern pipes have more bells and whistles such as diffusers and unique purging systems.
Does the size of a hookah matter?
Usually, it doesn’t matter. The height of a hookah is more of a smoker’s preference rather than a performance advantage that one height class has over another. Whether your hookah is small or large, if it’s well-designed and properly assembled, the hookah will perform. The only time you will see height affect the smoke session is with very small (mini) hookahs, where the smoke can be slightly hotter when compared to the smoke of a taller hookah pipe.
